The announcement has come out that H.E.R. has received seven nominations for the 2018 Soul Train Awards which is more than any other artist. These are exciting times for female R&B artists as a highly talented group have broke through as of recent. Besides H.E.R., other notables include Jorja Smith, Ella Mai, SZA, and my personal favorite Amber Mark. All have a distinctive sound and are a real breath of artistic fresh air. Ella Mai "Boo'd Up", H.E.R. "Avenue", and SZA "Broken Clocks" are all nominated for Video of the Year. "Love Me Right" by Amber Mark might be one of the five best over-all singles released this year and "On My Mind" by Jorja Smith is a dancefloor triumph of note. It should be fun following the careers of these five breakout artists.
